Are you always feeling inferior? Like everyone's better than you? Others always seem happier and more confident and successful than you? You can't help but to feel helpless and trapped feeling lower than everyone else?
Inferiority complex is a really irritating feeling that often leads you to feel worthless and lower than who you actually are. This constant feeling of being mediocre will destroy your confidence and self-esteem, leading you to live your life endlessly feeling like you're never good enough, instead of living up to your full potential. If you have an inferiority complex and you want to get rid of it, this is for you. 1. Stop exaggerating your flaws
Many of us tend to blow our flaws our of proportion, so we're so focused on our imperfections and defects that it appears to be much more serious than what it really is. When you're always reminding yourself of your weaknesses, but you never even mention the smallest positive trait that you have, it suddenly seems like don't have any good traits, you feel like you're full of flaws.
Here's a fact, magnifying your flaws won't help you at all. So why keep focusing on them? Think about it. A better option would be to shift your focus, and start working on yourself. If you don't like something about yourself, try to change it instead of feeling insecure about it. You have to stop magnifying every weakness that you have, stop talking about it, stop thinking about it, and start doing something about it. To do : stop amplifying your flaws 2. Become proficient
This one has to do with your confidence level. Having an inferiority complex is related with low self-esteem and low confidence. On of the reasons you're feeling inferior is because you haven't done anything meaningful in your life, so when you hear someone talking about something they know, or something that happened with them, you feel like you're not as interesting or as confident as that person, right?
The general rule is this : become good at something., as simple as that. You have to start working on yourself. Pick something, it can be a passion, an interest, or anything that you choose, and gain experience and knowledge in that specific field. If you're interested in sports, go and practice. If you're more of a business person, go and try different things, read about it, and experience as much as you can. You'll feel a lot more confident and satisfied once you've mastered something that you love doing. To do : become adept in a specific area of your life 3. Take the credit
Let me ask you something, when you make a lot of efforts and you finally reach that goal that you had, do you often convince yourself that you were just lucky or something? If yes, then you're doing it wrong. You must always take credit for your achievements, because it was you who caused that specific thing to happen. I mean, if you don't deserve the credit, then who does? Wasn't it you who did all the work? Didn't you make all those efforts to get there? So how can you still believe that you don't deserve it? You do, you're just so used to give it away that you don't know how to deal with it.
From now on, learn to take the credit when you accomplish something. This will gradually help you to start realizing how great you are, which in its turn will help you to stop feeling inferior, because you know your true value. To do : always take the credit for every victory that you have 4. Understand that everyone has flaws
Inferiority complex is mainly caused by one big misconception, which is that others have no flaws. On a logical level, you know that all of us have flaws, but on an emotional level, you feel like you're the only one who isn't perfect. You have to really understand and recognize that everyone has their own flaws, you're not the only one.
Here's a little exercise that can help you. Grab a pen, and think about some people that you know, and start listing 5 flaws for each one of them, you'll notice that they have far more flaws than what you have imagined., it's just that when you're feeling inferior you're so blinded this illusion where everyone seems to be better than you, and you're so focused on your own defects that you totally forget that others have them too, so you find yourself feeling miserable, but that's just in your imagination. The fact is that everyone has defects, and that's fine. I want you to really focus on this idea and let it sink in. To do : remember this simple fact : no one is perfect 5. Become independent from others' opinions
Your value should be defined by your own opinion about yourself, not what others say about you. The fact is that there will always be people who criticize you. There will always be that someone who finds something bad to say about you. Ask yourself this question, does what anyone thinks really affects me? Absolutely not.
When you feel like you're inferior to others, it's most likely that you're giving way too much importance to what they say about you. Why shouldn't they listen to you instead of you listening to them? Learn to live your life without any interference from other people, be completely detached from what they think of you, that way you'll be way more comfortable in your own skin, and you'll start to enjoy your life because you're no longer constantly afraid of judgment. To do this, you'll have to force yourself a bit, because when applying this to the real world you'll feel uncomfortable at first because you're used to seeking approval from others, so when you try to act differently, many people are going to criticize you but you have to keep ignoring it. This will allow you to take control over your own life, because now you're no longer the victim of what others say or think, To do : don't give any attention to what anyone thinks about you 6. Stop saying 'I can't' , start saying 'I can'
No, I'm not talking about a metaphor, I mean it literally. You must stop saying 'I can't'. As weird as it may sound, when you say it repeatedly, you're actually limiting yourself, and holding yourself back from all the possibilities that you have. When you're always telling yourself that you can't do this and you can't do that, you'll slowly learn to become helpless, and at the end of the road you'll find yourself so restrained that everything you do seems impossible to achieve.
Start saying 'I can'. This will slowly break down the mental barrier that causes your inferiority complex, if you always say and really believe that you can do what you want, you'll start to feel in control, and you will gradually feel more and more capable of doing stuff, so your inferiority will slowly fade away until it's totally gone. To do : start saying 'I can' instead of 'I can't' If you liked this post, like and share it to help other people. You can also follow us on pinterest to get the latest articles.
