Don’t watch the clock, do what it does. Keep going. How did it get so late, so quickly ? Did you ever find yourself asking that question ? Most likely yes. This just proves how fast time can pass us by without us noticing it. We all know the mainstream narrative: “Time is important…etc”. You know, we hear it all the time, right ? However, I don’t think we really get it. We waste so much time, and that’s the problem. Anyways, enough talking about it. Here are the top five ways you’re wasting your time : 1. You surf the web aimlesslyYou know that feeling when you’re scrolling through your social media feed just to “take a look” then you find yourself doing the same thing for 4 hours straight ? I know that because I’ve been there. The internet can become an addiction, and surfing aimlessly for hours can give you a false feeling of gratification. It makes you feel like you’re “busy” but when you think about it, you’re not doing anything. 2. You argue about stuff you can’t changeI have an excellent example about this one here. You see, I live in a country where people will gladly come and talk for hours and hours just to tell you what’s going wrong, and why it’s the always the government’s fault. People will always say stuff like “If I were that person, I would do this and that” or “This should be like this” or something like that. You see them saying “This country is a mess” but when you ask them “Ok, how would you suggest we change things” the answer is usually “It’s impossible”. Ok then, if it’s impossible, then why are you even talking about it ? If you’re always talking about what should change, and how you would do it, without willing to actually do anything, you’re wasting your time. 3. You overthink a lotI’m not going to dig too deep into this because it’s fairly clear I think. If you’re always analyzing everything, thinking about everything, you’re not living in the present moment and you’re not just wasting your time, you’re ruining your life. 4. You complain, a lotSimilar to #2, whining a lot without actually doing anything about the situation is waste of your time. Take action instead. 5. You gossipGreat minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.Do you have a friend that’s always talking about other people ? Or is it you ? Do you always find yourself talking about others behind their back ?
I think in its essence, gossiping is a way to distract yourself from your own life and point out other people’s flaws so that you can feel better about yourself. This is not just a waste of time, but a genuinely toxic habit that you should remove from your life ASAP.
